Basalt is a volcanic rock, dark in colour and rich in silicates and iron.
Azerbazalt LLC was founded on December 29, 2019 and is driven by three values: ambition, innovation and partnership.
In January 2022, MICON International produced a full report following their study of the basalt field, which included the chemical analysis of the basalt itself. The analysis confirmed that the basalt was suitable for industrial purposes, due to its high levels of silicates and iron.
AzerBazalt owns a four hectare industrial site in the city of Ganja, which has its own railway siding that connects with the modern railway that reaches the Georgian ports of Poti and Batumi, on the Black Sea.
Future industrial operations will also take place in the tax free zone of Aghdam and will contribute to redevelop the Recovered Territories of Karabakh, which is one of the priorities of the Government of Azerbaijan.
The Chaykend Basalt Project is located in the Göygöl district of Azerbaijan. The project site is in the north-west part of the country, close to the second largest city in Azerbaijan — Ganja.

On 10 October 2022, the Ministry of Ecology and Natural Resources (MENR) of Azerbaijan issued AzerBazalt with a 25 year exclusive license to exploit the basalt field.
Micon International Co Limited was contracted by Azerbazalt LLC to prepare a mineral resource estimate for the Chaykend Basalt project and the proposed project operations.
View DownloadTests by NRM Laboratories (UK) show Chaykend basalt is rich in calcium (4.37%), magnesium (0.75%), iron (2.29%), phosphorus (0.23%), and potassium (0.16%), with beneficial trace elements (Cu, Zn, Co, B).
View DownloadThis report contains detailed laboratory analysis of basalt material, including chemical composition, physical properties, and trace element data. The results provide a reliable basis for industrial application and quality assessment.
View DownloadThis report contains the results of X-ray diffraction (XRD) analysis of basalt material, identifying its mineral phases and relative abundances. The sample is primarily composed of plagioclase feldspar (~64.8%), with secondary phases including clinopyroxene, orthopyroxene, and vermiculite. Trace minerals such as magnetite and quartz are also present.
